Therapy for Trauma, Anxiety and Depression

None of us are immune to experiencing crisis or trauma because life events and circumstances can be unpredictable. In a very short time, coping with everyday stressors can be overwhelming.

Please contact us and we will assist you to better cope with symptoms such as persistent anxiety and fears, depression, grief and loss, and relationship issues.

Inclusion of Equines in Therapy

When you think of a therapy office, what image comes to your mind? An ordinary, non-descript office with a couch and four walls closing you in? Doesn't sound therapeutic to us. We offer the same, high quality therapy that you would expect in an office, but in an environment that is relaxing, beautiful, and inviting.

  • Including horses in your sessions allows for freedom of movement, unexpected opportunities for self-reflection, and real-life practice of skills. Building a relationship with a horse is something you will always remember and, in combination with work with your therapist, can be positively life-changing.

No horse experience is necessary! The amount and type of horse interactions will be tailored to your needs. The majority of work with the horses is done from the ground. Mounted work may be included on a limited basis and depends on therapeutic goals.

EMDR

Are you dealing with the effects of a traumatic event? Do you have a hard time talking about triggering experiences? Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) may be a good fit for your situation.

As of 2020, the American Psychological Association lists EMDR as an evidence-based treatment for PTSD.

  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is based on the idea that negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors are the result of unprocessed memories.

EMDR has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. After the therapist and the client agree that EMDR therapy is a good fit, and begin to work together, the client will be asked to focus on a specific event. Attention will be given to a negative image, belief, and body feeling related to this event, and then to a positive belief that would indicate the issues was resolved. While the client focuses on the upsetting event, the therapist will begin sets of side-to-side eye movements, sounds, or taps. The client will be guided to notice what comes to mind after each set. They may experience shifts in insight or changes in images, feelings, or beliefs regarding the event. The client has full control to stop the therapist at any point, if needed. The sets of eye movements, sounds, or taps are repeated until the event becomes less disturbing.
